This past week has been insane. We had our 2 day advanced mastermind workshop here in Boise on Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday we moved all 35+ people on our team into our new offices, then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we had our partnership workshop.
It was a TON of work, but very fun to see everyone and see the growth in their businesses.
Yesterday I saw an email that one of the guys in our advanced mastermind group sent out to his list.
His name is Howie Schwartz. This is what his email said:
So, while I know not everyone can afford the $12k it costs to be part of our advanced mastermind, I did want to share with you one VERY cool conversion trick that I picked up from one of our members.
His name is AJ Brown. AJ teaches stock trading an you can see the process I'm describing here:
http://www.tradingtrainer2.com/tt2/1246-20.html
Now we all know that order form abandoment is a big problem. Of everyone who ends up on your order form, it's not uncommon to see 80% of the people leave and never come back. Let me show you a little trick he added to his order form that did some AMAZING things!
Now, if you were to guess, do you think something like that would actually increase your
conversion?
Well, the numbers that
AJ reported were amazing.
He showed a 47% decrease in
his order form abandonment!!!
That is just ONE of the dozens of amazing things that others brought to the table just this week at our advanced mastermind groups. I hope that it's something you can steal and apply to your business!
Thanks,
Russell Brunson
Russell,
Thanks for the tip -- I never would have thought of that! Especially being a programmer, it's easy to forget that not everybody knows how to do all the things that are second nature to me (not to boast of course -- I probably wouldn't know how to do the things that are second nature to them either). I'll have to take a look at where I can use Camtasia like this more on my websites.
Hi Russel - that is very cool. Wish I could have been in that meeting.
Any other cool tips you want to share with us all? I'd LOVE to see them.
Well I'm off to go test out this one - I'll report my results.
- Mike
Hey Russel,
Great tip there!
I'm always surprised by what some simple testing can achieve but that's one thing I never thought of adding to my order page.
Most of my sites have a simplee Paypal checkout but I'm starting to shift to physical products which require a lot more personal information from the consumer so I'm definitely going to try this out.
Thanks again,
Richard
Interesting.
It great to have these tips you are sharing with us. It always a value and I get to try new things too..
Great tip! Well worth doing it!
Thanks
MrSurfTheWeb
An excellent idea Russell! Please thank AJ for us and thank you for showing it to us.
I don't have Camtasia, but I do have CamStudio which should be just as good. I too am using Paypal as the pay processor at the moment, but I can still put up a video tutorial for those who have either never, or rarely purchased with Paypal.
In any event, it should definitely do for me as it did for AJ and increase order page retention.
Thanks again!
Ross "The Pit Boss"
Russell,
Sorry I missed the meeting but I'm glad to hear that things went extremely well.
AJ has been kicking some serious butt with his marketing over the last few years but the Camtasia video is a great idea. Amazing how something that would seem so "trivial" like filling out an order form, when explained in video, would decrease the number of people bailing.
Anyway I hope all is well with the new office :)
All the best.
Stu
Great tip, Easy to do. easy to comply, Thanks
Thanks for the tip.
Hi Russell,
Great Post & Tip Buddy.
I myself need NO convincing about Camtasia + Profits.
It's My Successful Business & people love being shown what to do.
Big Bucks in Video conversions.
Cheers To You

Very interesting.. I think I'll give this a shot on my webstore. It sells consumer electronics, and I bet you 99% of the customers won't have seen something like a camtasia video before (it seems very prevalent in IM circles).
A Mastermind that TESTS! and shares all the results? That's an awesome mastermind. Thanks for the tips, and keep sharing the ones you can. I'm using all the conversion and testing results I find to improve my "ghost" site for financial advisors, and then testing that.
Different markets have different things that increase conversions. Financial advisors tend to have an older market, so we'll see what works for that demographic and for the level of services advisors offer.
Thanks again for the tips. I'll come every day for tips like that!
Thanks Russell - that really does seem like a no-brainer conversion tweak - nice to know someone has tested it in the real world!
And goodness .... now I have Howie saying he's not doing enough testing? If he isn't "doing enough" then by comparison I am clearly still a cave man!
Thanks again,
Robert
Would you recommend this technique no matter what the item is being offered? Or is the real answer - TEST TEST TEST!?
Sunita
Would you say to use this technique as a rule? How do you decide?
Sunita
Howie Schwartz could not say enough great things about your event. He did not share this tip in our mastermind meeting though! I guess thats the power of the mastermind. Thanks for sharing.

Hi !
Thanks For the tips there Russell & Guys..
I sure will be adding Video (well a short one anyways) to ALL of my Opt-in & Order forms from now on.
On another Note... I also found that by testing, tweaking and re-testing helps increase conversions alot when you do some of the following...
1. Add a Secure/Site Web Seal where appropiate.
2. Try and have pictures of PEOPLE near the Submit Button.
3. If Not using Video... Use and Audio "Call to Action" or Arrow Pointers.
Well, Im now getting between 10-20% Increased Optins / Conversions using these tactics over at my Site`s Home Page.
Best Regards as Always.
Jim D :)
Hi Russel
I would agree that we need to test the best hypothesis.
For example, the quote request form on one of my client web sites had a better response rate when we removed the Flash video at top showing how easy it was to fill up a request form. Howie improved the response *with* the video. So only a test can tell you what will work for your site.
I think reiterating the offer (reminding the user what he/she is getting) causes the best improvements to the quote form page.
Arun
Interesting tip, Russel.
I'll try it and do a split test. I am curious about the results.
Best regards,
Peter
What a great idea. I'm about to make these changes to my site tonight before I go to bed. P.S. Can't wait for Dallas next month.
Have A Profitable Day
Michael
Sometimes folks just need a little guidance, they watch a sales video and if you don't tell them the next step, they may get distracted by something else.
Giving clear instructions always helps. Thanks for sharing that one, it should make some folks, (the ones who are willing to take action) some big bucks!
Now go Pin somebody, you look way to relaxed on your header picture.
Rick
Boy....if I would have had this tip for the past year, I would've doubled the amount of sales. This is awesome because I just finished talking to my brother about this topic. I noticed that a lot of people would abandon the order form....almost half the people that went there!
So this tip will help me out a lot.
I will post another comment to let you know my results once I test this.
Thanks alot,
Melvin

Video Rocks!
Thanks, Russell! Yes, human interaction really makes your website come ALIVE when marketing on the Internet! Certainly audio is nice, but video is even better. This story certainly illustrated the benefits of pre-launch website testing. Great tip!
We hope you host another Online Marketer of the Year Award for 2008-2009!
Thanks again,
Celeste
Hi Russell,
thanks for that great tip!! :-))
Sometimes things are so simple that we tend to overlook them!!! :-)
Of course people loooove watching movies - so why not a movie about filling out the order form?!
Almost genious!!! :-)
Have a great day!! :-.)
André
Doh! - Why didn't I think of that, it seems so obvious now that you've explained it.
Going fire up my camtasia!
Cheers - Andy
That is a great tip Russel
I would never have thought of that, being a relative novice with testing I see I need to think a lot deeper for future reference.
Thank You
John
Wow!
Well I could use some more testing! And what an interesting proposal - to put a 'how-to' video on the order page. thats not something I have evr considered!
Russell you are right I dont have the 12K spare at the mo - but do honestly appreciate you sharing these little (and big!) wisdoms with me - Thank You!
Kym
Russell,
Cool tip.
One quick follow up question:
Where EXACTLY was he putting the video (in terms of page)?
After they clicked the "buy" link?
I don't think that my shopping cart, http://www.Goldbar.net would let us put this on their page.
Any ideas?
Wow! thanks for reminding this overlooked tactic...
I already know a marketer who does the same,
including me, but didn't know about AJ's results
with using it...
Thanks again!
