What I learned from Jerry Seinfeld!
So I was at the office last night until 4:30 AM putting the finishing touches on a new product that is coming out today. The product has a pretty unique story that I wanted to tell you about.
Incase you don't know, I'm obsessed with something called the "Public Domain." What that is in a nutshell is "works" (books, audio, video, images) who's copyright has expired. What you can do with public domain stuff is even cooler.
Remember from my last post I talked about 19 ways to create a product - well one of my favorites is finding works in the public domain and turning them into
derivative works. :)
So a couple months back I got a call from a client of mine who about some of my public domain products that I have in my membership site www.TheLostFiles.com.
Each month I give my members 3 products that are in the public domain along with all the legal documents, sales letter, graphics, etc...
This guy wanted a copy of all the product I had ever included in the membership site. I've been running it for almost 2 years now, so there are quite a few. But I wasn't selling them all in one spot.
Until this call...
After we got done talking - I looked over and saw on my shelf a copy of "The Simpsons" season 1,2 and 3 - and also "Seinfeld" year one.
That gave me an idea. What if I created a box set of all the files from year one on TheLostFiles?
Someone could get all 26 products from year one (plus 4 bonus products) for a fraction of what it takes to create even just 1 public domain work.
So that was the idea I got from good ole Jerry Seinfeld.
===================
NOTE: I'm reposting this message after I had a few people ask me what the lesson I learned from Jerry was... The lesson was that you can (and should) recycle your content. Just think... Seinfeld is free - it's on TV 8 times a day, you never have to pay for it... Yet - they re-package it into a collectors edition DVD, and now people are flocking to pay $60 for it!!!
===================
The product is launching today, and you can get your collectors edition shipped to your doorstep for under $200. You get 30 products that are proven to sell. You get 30 sales letters, 30 graphics, 30 legal docs from my lawyers.
Each work costs me a little over $2,500 to produce. So you can do the math 30 X $2,500 = a whole lotta value for not much moolah.
I'll also throw in 2 months free membership to Lost Files so you'll get another 6 products for no cost. :)
So here's your special link:
During the next 3-4 weeks I'm going to be doing a lot of training on the public domain. This is one of the BEST ways to get started quickly with your own product.
Thanks again,
Russell Brunson

using a phone call to tell me of this promo was quite clever... I am interested to see how it works for you.
I liked that phone blast..that was pretty cool..nice use of tech.
Hi Russell
I appreciate your phone call and am sorry I missed you! THAT call is the reason for my visit to this blog.
I purchased The Lost Files Year One, but bypassed the oto. Being in the middle of several projects myself, I just don't have the time to use that offer. I must say that your offer is FANTASTIC!
Should you have some time, please email me. I have something I would like to discuss with you.
Thanks,
GB
Walt
P.S. Next time you call, please leave a return number!
Russell,
Got your voicemail - cool blog entry! I'll bite!
I'm just getting started on the web and am now learning about the Public domain. I subscribed to your newsletter and then watched your video regarding the public domain.
At the end there were links to your other websites. I was interested in www.publicdomainhowto.com. When I typed in the address I was brought to this blog.
Is this the right destination? I am very interested learning about what that site may contain. Thank you.
Russell I love the Public Domain works and the possibilities that open up with applications and sales. I also and loved your membership site and David Vallieres Course as well. You are now starting to give your list and customers good value and you are getting more generous lately; thank you
Temogen
Thanks for the video! You provided a lot of content!
8) Hoo Rah Russell,
Really appreciate you making this available at such a reasonaable investment. I love writing but it is time consuming and I can use all the help I can get. I am just now beginning to realize the value of Public Domain and Private Label Rights. Living in Thailand I am on the fringes but want to be in the mainstream. I have to make use of other peoples labors because it is hard to find how to do it from here. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Darwin
Thanks Russell,
You make it look so easy and because it is, that makes you a genius.
I really appreciate that you give so much, of your time and your learning.
I'll keep in touch,
John Okole
P.S. Just taking the time to read what you write opens doors that seemingly were not there before.
hi russell,
The Comment from john okole sums up what i have to say too.
