Stop working so hard!!!

I wanted to let you in on a little secret that I found that is going to make your online lifestyle 1000% times easier. It's the concept of outsourcing!

I'm going to show you WHY, HOW and exactly WHERE I find the best people to do all of the work for you!!!

When I started online, I was going to school and wrestling AND was just married, so I had NO time... I was also completely broke, so I had no money... I also didn't have the ability to write, be a programmer, design a website or about anything else that you need to do to make moolah online.

Luckily I didn't let all those strikes against me hold me back - instead I found people who did know how to do those things, and hired them to do them for me.

The big breakthrough came when I found out that I could hire people from around the world a very small fraction of what someone in the US would want for the same work!

If you listened to the 2 hour mp3 already (if you didn't subscribe yet, go to the box on the top left and join my newsletter and I'll send it to you) - you'll remember that I paid a programmer $20 (plus a $100 bonus) to create my first software product.

I then paid $8.88 for a domain name, $5 to host the website, $500 for someone to write a sales letter and $97 to have the graphics done for a total cost of $730.88.

I sold the product for $67 and during the fist month I sold 16 copies. My gross sales was $1,072 which left me a net profit of $341.12.

That may not seem too exciting for you, but check this out...

Month #2 I sold 30 more copies for a profit of $2,010... but this month I didn't have to re-pay the people I had outsourced to create the product! All of this (minus my $5 hosting fee) when straight to my pocket!!!

That is the power of outsourcing! Hire someone to do something once - then profit from it over and over and over again!

So, the two questions I get after I explain the power of outsourcing is "What can I outsource," and "Where do I find people to outsource things to?"

What can I outsource:

- Customer Support
- Website Design
- Graphics Design
- Writing Ad Copy
- Getting Link Partners
- Writing Content
- writing ebooks
- Research
- Programming websites
- Programming software
- ANYTHING and EVERYTHING else you can think of!!!

Only do what you HAVE to do to be successful. I've found that the less things I actually do in my business, the more successful it has become!

Where can I find people to outsource things to?

There are quite a few companies that we use. I use them differently for different things.

1st) RentACoder.com - this is a site where I can post a project, and people from around the world will bid on it. Usually a great place to find programmers and graphics designers.

2nd) Guru.com - Great for finding more upper level (and more expensive) programmers as well as writers. We get most of our writing projects from people we find on Guru.com

3rd) Workaholics4hire.com - this company is great place to find people to do support, linking campaigns and more. They charge you an hourly rate to work with someone from their in-house team.

4th) AgentsOfValue.com
- if you want to hire someone long term - then this is the place to go. We've got quite a few full time employees from AgentsofValue.com. How it works is you will hire someone from their company (in the Phillipies) for usually around $2-$5 an hour. You train them how to do what it is you'd like them to do, then they work for you 40 hours a week!

We've found these guys are the best for things like linking, article writing, article submission and basic webmaster stuff.

If you hire someone from AgentsOfValue.com - be sure to mention that Russell Brunson sent you - and they will be sure to give you one of their better workers.

I hope that this newsletter has been helpful to you. It's important to understand that your job is similar to a contractor. It's not to build the house... it's to have an idea - then contract others to do the work for you.

Outsourcing was how I was able to take my company to over a million dollars in sales in under 2 years while going to school, wrestling and being married! Just imagine what it can do for you!

Thanks
Russell Brunson

Russell,
I am very interested in outsourcing but I don't have the money to do that just yet.

What suggestions would you give for earning money quickly so a person can do what you did?

God bless,

Hey Russell,

These are some great resources! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks,

PS - Mark, I know Russell has said this many times before but if you are low on cash to invest in your business then just promote your site or an affiliate product in forums. It really does work and you will earn some extra cash.

Russell,

Thanks SOOOOO much for this great idea. I have been doing it by myself for so long that I actually "forgot" about the fact that I could get someone to help me out.

I have a question. Do you do ANY of your business stuff yourself? I ask because there are a few things that I truly enjoy doing--like presenting teleseminars--and I'd rather not hand those over. How much of a hand do you have in your own businesses? And if you don't have much of a hand in them, how do you move people through a marketing funnel?

Thanks again for the info. You are excellent at explaining and sharing whatever it takes to inform. I appreciate the advice.

Russell, I don't want to burst any bubbles here, nor do I want to alienate you or fellow readers. I've been an ardent fan for quite some time now, especially in your efforts with Public Domain.

Up until a year ago, I was on the top page at Elance for the writing category - for almost two years. I led an unspoken 'brigade' with fellow writers to UP the ante on the bids. It may seem great to get a $300 job for cents on the dollar, but somehow, the buyers have got to start considering the creative they've just hired... whether that is US based or foreign. In about a year's time, my Joan of Arc crusade at Elance had raised the bidding on an average Ebook by about $200. No kidding. What did this take out of my hide? Please also consider that Elance and the ilk try VERY hard to keep the bidding creatives OUT of contact with one another, as that usually leads to the logical... which is, why do they so unfairly treat the creatives as opposed to the buyers?

Money. Greed. They get their high fee, just to sign up. And another set of high fees for every job. That keeps the stream of buyers... and since all these Dummie Creatives keep bidding so low.... well! So be it.

Again, where did this lead? A great reputation. A great flow of work... at about 1/3 or less market price. 20 hour days. Some 24 hour days. Some 36 and 48 hour days. Sleep? Who can do that? This is GLOBAL remember. The sun never sets, etc etc.

Pneumonia from October 2005 through March 2006, with weakened areas lingering today. Almost lost the business it's taken 5 years to create. A VERY bad buyer in the end, who cancelled the job within hours of awarding... yet, good ol' Elance STILL has that fee up in my workplace, in spite of emails from the buyer and from me. Forget the front page hype... Elance is riddled with problems, including the financial end and how it's handled, and the tools that we so 'eagerly' pay HIGH FEES to join, and then nothing works.

Okay, off soap box. My suggestion? Hire a pro. Most of Elance, at least, are wannabes. Some are very talented, but it's almost impossible to break in. I had one client that zoomed me to the top, and it was sheer timing, luck, and of course, talent. But to come to the end with hard, hard feelings, and health on the verge of death?

Think of the creative when you hire. You are BOUND to get better quality. The online freelance job shops (and I was on Guru, too), are nothing but electronic sweat shops.

I am dead serious, but thankfully ... not dead.

Do you realize that most of the top quality Elancers have bailed out, formed 'JV's' and are now creating and marketing separately from ANY online job shop? And it would take an affadavit delivered by Angels, to convince them to return.

Just one viewpoint... from the fox hole with heavy fire overhead. But I sure get tired of all those marketers out there, yakkin' about cheap prices at Elance etc etc ad nauseum.

Hey Russell, I just heard your DotCom Secret's mp3 and it is great. You provide solid marketing how-to info, and best of all...it's free! I was getting a bit discouraged and this mp3 really motivated me. Thanks. That's a great idea to provide valuable info up front and give us a taste of things to come from you and what you have to offer. I have always liked you and your down-to-earth, real-life marketing style. I am just getting started online and I would say I'm probably on the intermediate marketing level, as far as knowledge goes, but I've been sort of stuck in the paralysis of analysis mode, thinking I had to have everything perfect first. You have helped me past that hurdle.
I'm interested in working for your company if you ever hire outsiders. I'm a good researcher and brainstormer.
Thanks again! Best of luck to you as you continue to grow your business.

The program is called Stealth SEO. http://stealthseo.com

When hiring overseas what can you expect.

I just hired someone from overseas and it took them 2.5 hours to do something that takes me 15 min.

What is reasonable to expect from someone overseas as a webmaster?

I worry that all my training of them is just going to drain my time.

Ideas?

Hi Russell, one thing that always shines through your interaction via E-mails, your website or this Blog is your honesty and integrity.
I wouldn't mind betting you've had a 100% take-up on the re-registering to your newsletter.
Bearing this in mind, do you think Lea, who's posted several links up from this one, has a very valid point about 'outsourcing'?
That most of the time we could be using what boils down to 'sweat-shops'?
We all condemn the big corporations for doing this, so are we morally at ease doing the same just to save the maximum dollars?

I know this is a real cheek, but do you also have resource information about free-lancers like LEA who have the talent to produce good copy or software etc at a 'fair-value' price?
I'm sure most people on your list have been infected with your positive good-will approach to marketing that they would rather pay that bit extra and KEEP a clear conscience.

Just a thought,

Pete.

Russell, thanks for the great info. I've heard this outsourcing stuff before, but you cut right to the point. It suddenly makes more sense.

I'm curious about Lea's comment as well. I don't think eLance type sites are "sweat shops". Freelancers choose to be there; they have other options. It's the CHEAPNESS of the work that is problem. I've seen it firsthand -- generally, the more you pay, the better the quality.

So - the question: Where do you go for quality, at a great price?

Particularly for sales letters? The people who can really sell aren't going to write for pennies on eLance.

Thanks.

Hey Russell,

Your are the best Internet marketing "guru" out there. You give away so much valued information that the other "gurus" sell, that I'm amazed. I also like your no BS approach, you need some quick cash go rake leaves, put in some elbow grease so you have the cash you need to invest in your internet marketing endeavors. I love it man! I work in corporate America M-F 40-50 hrs per week so I can have cash to work my online business. I can't stand working in the corporate world but it is better then raking leaves - maybe. :D

I'm following your advice and I'm outsourcing product fulfillment, graphic design, and installing an affiliate management script I want to use for my next project. Why spend hours trying to figure out a script when I can outsource it!

Thanks for the tips and the motivation to keep at it so I can quit my day job.

My question is what have you experienced with them as pros and cons. My biggest concern is the article writing because Phillipino english and slang is not American slang.

I know your extremely busy, but having your input into this would be crucial on our decision.

Also like to talk to you about sendingoutpostcards and tweaking your copy. So I can sell only to wholesale business owners, not the biz opp side.

Like you, we firmly believe in outsourcing :)

I noted in a few of the comments that many believe they don't have the means, or are not ready to, outsource.

Running both an advertising co-op and a marketing outsourcing company, I can tell you that those that choose to "advertise" to cold markets, over the long haul, spend more than if they'd pursued effective warm marketing strategies.

Start adding up your costs, you'll be shocked (more often that not) at the amount spent promoting cold marketing methods.

Great post, thanks!

I have a question for all the folks who hire programmers, whether you're paying $5/hour or $150:

How do you evaluate the quality of the product? How do you know that you really got what you paid for?

Maybe the answers seem obvious. "It works." "It does what it's supposed to do."

I'd like to suggest that there's much more to it.

How do you know that it works? Have you tried hard to break it by putting in unexpected inputs, by putting javascript code where it doesn't belong, by putting SQL code where it doesn't belong, by deliberately trying to make the program fail?

Have you bypassed form validations by disabling javascript in your browser and manipulating POST variables directly? Have you attempted SQL injection attacks and cross-site scripting attacks?

If you don't know what I'm talking about and if you're running web sites that use PHP, Perl, ASP, MySQL, SQL Server, or the like, then your data could be stolen, corrupted, or wiped out by any mischievous 12-year-old who can use Google.

If you're satisfied that your program does what it's supposed to do, how do you know it doesn't do more than it's supposed to? Does it plant spyware on user's computers? Does it "phone home" to some offshore server with your customer's names, email addresses, passwords, or credit card numbers?

How do you know?

Enough scare tactics. I think you get the idea. There are professional standards for software testing and evaluation. You would be wise to ensure that they are followed.

I recently looked at some PHP/MySQL code (written right here in the U.S., by the way, by someone trusted by the marketer) that "worked" just fine, but under the hood it didn't conform to professional standards at all. It was wide open to SQL injection attacks, meaning that the database was totally vulnerable, and it relied on nothing but javascript to validate input values, meaning that anything in the database was potentially meaningless.

Professional standards and knowledge are the reasons that corporations pay consulting firms big fees for this kind of work. In the U.S., if you went to a firm large enough to have its own managers, analysts, and project managers, as well as developers, the rates for programming would start around $125/hour. For analysis and project management, they would start at about $200/hour.

Something to think about, especially when you're about to accept that $10/hour bid on elance.

Hi Russell,

I am a newbee to internet marketing. I need some help from the experts who have been posting some very good ideas and information.

I see you talk about outsourcing quite a bit and I want to get your comments and ideas about a different form of outsourcing. I am a registered nurse and I am involved in Medical Travel. The cost of healthcare is spiraling upwords for many years and many Americans cannot afford to pay the health insurance premiums and millions go without health insurance.

I am working with a hospital in India where you can get elective surgeries at 1/10 the cost of USA hospitals. Many of the doctors in this hospital are trained in USA. The hospitals are most modern and have all the cutting edge technologies and equipments like here in US hospitals. Nurse patient ratio is much better than US hospitals so the patient is well taken care of before, during and after the surgery. Once you are inside the hospital, there are no difference between US and Indian hospital. Many of you have heard the patient's testimonials in 60 Minutes, Today show, Businessweek, USA today and other newsmedia about their care in Indian hospitals and they are very satisfied and stated will do it again and will recommend to their friends and family.

This hospital is in Kerala, one of the most exotic places in the world. National Geogrphic magazine listed it as one of the top 10 places in the world to visit. In addition to taking care of their medical problems at 1/10 the US cost they can have a fantastic vacation and still save plenty of money left over.

The surgeons in this hospital are famous for plastic and cosmetic surgeries like face lift, nasal reconstruction, breast augmentation and reduction, tummy tuck, weigt reduction surgeries like gastric banding. They also well known for Knee and hip surgery with excellent outcome. People who don't have health insurance but can afford 1/10th of US cost can get their surgeries done in india and that is another form of outsorcing.

I am looking at experts in this forum for advice on how to market this medical travel and also looking for strategic relationships to send patients to this hospital and help people who otherwise can't take care of their medical problems with the inflated healthcare cost in USA due to layers of employees for regulatory compliances and surgeons practicing defensive medicine due to malpractice suits.

Please suggest a marketing plan for this business. I am sure with all the experts out there can help me to find the right way to promote medical travel and help a lot of people whom otherwise out of the loop due to the sky high hospital bills and other inflated health care cost. Thanks for your help and advice.

You could be right about sweatshops. I have hired outsourced people from the Philipines before. I talked personally to the person that I hired through the company, he said that the 200 dollars a week he received from the 300 a week that I was charged was a very good wage for him to live on.

In our city there is a huge growth of tele centres. They pay 10.00 an hour with signing bonuses and benefits. Most here in my country would consider that a poverty wage. Would you say that they are one step above a sweatshop?

Most of the places that Russell mentioned you are hiring people who have bid on your project, it is only Agents of Value that would fit your question and I would not judge before you look into it. Again my experience is that the employee I hired was quite excited about the wage he was making.

Russell, I'm new here but what you have written makes a lot of sense to me - thank you!

For those who have moral concerns about outsourcing, with all due respects you seem to be misunderstanding how the free market system works.

The best thing you can do for these "underpaid, sweatshop workers" is give them as much work as you can. And tell others about them!

They're happy to work for $2 per hour for now, it beats having no work. When competitition increases their rates will increase.

Hi Russell, your article has given me a lot of food for thought. I think I will contnue learning on my current site as it is rather a personal one, as you will see.
However I shall research a new niche market and try outsourcing for that.
Unless of course you can outsource a niche market as well by sending someone your interests and thoughts?

Many Thanks and good luck to you and all other members.

Supporting Pete here, Id like to see a consideredresponse to ex- eLance writer Lea's complaint.

Its quite critical that she complains the best people are being driven out by overwork. Without being prissy, I don't want to support any site that encourages unhealthy computing practices, like slaving away at a screen 20 hours a day?

From Russell

With agents of value - they put in 8 hour work days. That is where we get the bulk of our workers.

Others we outsource are all independent people. The only ones I know who are puttin in 20+ hours a day is me. :)

Hello Russell,

I read your article and I appreciated your work, I am the problem that I am in a country which is not acceptable by famous online bakns such as Paypal. I want to sell banner space on my site to other webmasters but I have not yet any mean of payment, Please tell me what I have to do to receive payments from other webmasters for advertisments on my website.

Hi sagheer -

I'd recommend finding a partner in the US or somewhere that can accept paypal... and have them pay you via ikobo.co or send a wire transfer.

Hope this helps.

Hello Russel,

Thanks for a great sharing.. I don't think we can get someone to write a software product for $20 nowadays. Even outside USA, nobody will do that.

Just curious, what were the $1000 bonus you offered to the programmer? How did you get the $1000 bonus to give away while you were broke?

cheers,
leon.

From Russell

Hey Leon -
I paid $20 for the software just 4 years ago - there are tons of coders who can work close to that cheap now days . :)

It wasn't $1,000 bonus - I didn't have that at all. It was $100 bonus.

Hope this helps

Russell -

Thanks for listing these resources. One of the most time consuming things we do to support our online business is locating quality resources. This will make it easier for everyone to assess the quality and fit of a resource to their business. They can spend less time looking and more productive time building working relationships, they will go farther faster.

Outsourcing is one of the best investments someone could make on their business. Much of the time, people sell themselves short (don't charge enough for their time). Or their business has an org chart with their name in every position (see Rich Schefren's video to get an idea of what your time is really worth).

Thanks again Russel!

Thanks.

Other ones to look into these days are ScriptLance.com and GetAFreelancer.com .

Or just type in "outsource ______" where the ______ is the job you're considering outsourcing (ie: graphic work, article submissions, etc).

Also... do a bit of research. Visit each of these, see the jobs that are listed, see the bids they are going for.

Outsourcing is a great idea; so is networking to find people to help you meet your goals.

I appreciate the advice. It's what I do in my brick & mortar business for 20 odd years. It just never occurred to me that this is possible in the digital world. I sure will give it a try, hoping that I don't get caught up with the scums who are only after taking advantage because you're code-illeterate.

This sounds great but I'm wondering how much you put out and how you got your first 16 sales. I'd be afraid of putting all that money into something and then not knowing how or where to find people to buy it.
Thanks.

Outsourcing is the way to go, but it can be difficult to find the gems amongst the stones.

It took me a good few tries before finding decent writers for things like articles etc

Hello Russell!
Enjoyed the brief "outsourcing" plug for small online players, part-time earners, businesses and miniprenuers. Outsourcing is increasingly becoming popular and integrated into today's markets as a key leveraging tool for businesses and self-employed's. Outsourcing allows a person to add expertise to thier business while reducing much of the risk associated with bringing it in-house or through a DIY (do-it-yourself) market. The goal to achieve for many would be miniprenuers is to leverage thier time and focus on the parts of their business that make them money.

Word to the wise, you do get what you pay for and I am sure you can create an entire blog of stories that would support - you get what you pay for.

Enjoying the site and comments. Any professional words of wisdom, email: info@THEcertifiedsolutions.com

Hey Russell,
Your article above where you are asking people to sign up for your newsletter and you'll send them a copy of your MP3, you state that your news letter is on the top left, when it's on the top right. Just wanted to point it out. BTW, great info here.

Russel,

I have been very interested in internet and direct marketing for years and have tried several things with litle success, it was refreshing to hear that everyone goes through this and the key is to keep on trying. My question to you is regarding forums. you suggested a signature at the bottom of your emails, do you use the same singature at the bottom of your posts to forum to advertise your product?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.
